Jamie Roderick a Quiet Person, Student Athlete and Friendly Guy
by Taylor Seabolt for Walkersville High School Lion’s Pride
An incredible young man of very few words brings joy to the people around him and his name is Jamie Roderick. “He’s such a good person, he’s cool, friendly and fun,” said sophomore Nina Matthews.
Roderick is generally a quiet person, but absolutely cracks people up when he does speak. “I walk Jamie to his mom’s car everyday after school. Well, recently, I walked him there and he got in the car like normal but then to my surprise stepped out again. Jamie then said, ‘Coach Greene I like your beard but you need to shave it’,” said Coach Erick Greene with a chuckle, “he is just a really funny person.”
Besides his secret life of being a comedian, he loves cheese pizza and watching football. Roderick is also extremely good at math and it’s his favorite class in school. “He’s great at math and is our learning for life math wiz,” said Greene.
Roderick is a student athlete participating in Unified Track and Field and Unified Tennis. “I’m glad he is involved in sports and I really do hope he continues; it’s good for him” said Greene.
Roderick’s track and field coach, William Scheetz said, “Jamie did well at the beginning of the [track and field] season, he was alright, but by the end of the season he excelled so much in terms of his skill level.” Scheetz then described Roderick’s most recent athletic performance, “Last year in unified track and field Jamie was actually the first in his track event, he came [in] third in his field event, and he did awesome.”
Roderick, a young man of a few words inspires laughter in everyone he meets. “He’s really cool although he doesn’t talk much, but he’s funny when he does. He’s awesome [and] a good friend and a really talented track and field and tennis player,” said senior Uriah Hickman.
Roderick continues to be a talented involved lion at WHS and one of the funniest guys you may meet.
